Institutional Support

Much of our impact is made possible through the generosity of philanthropic and family foundations

Many of our institutional partners choose to support specific areas of our work. Currently, we focus on three core programmes:

MedAid directly manages both the mental health and medical supply programmes, while our mobile medical services are delivered in partnership with trusted local NGO STEP-IN. If you’re considering supporting our work, please indicate which area you’re most interested in when contacting us.

    Please contact us about:

    Mental Health Group Therapy

In response to Ukraine’s urgent psychological health needs, MedAid co-founded Moe Kolo (“My Circle”) in 2023 with Ukrainian partners and local therapists. Inspired by successful models in South Africa, Moe Kolo delivers online group therapy to thousands of participants, with oversight from MedAid trustees.

Grants are typically made to MedAid, a UK registered charity (1210108), and then disbursed to Moe Kolo based on agreed budgets – though direct grants to Moe Kolo are also possible. We’re proud to have Oak Foundation as the principal donor for our 2024 expansion plan.

    Mobile Medical Services

Our long-standing partner STEP-IN, an NGO originally operating in Iraqi Kurdistan, now runs mobile medical units in Ukraine with our support. Their multidisciplinary teams provide vital care in conflict-affected areas like Dnipro and Kharkiv.

MedAid donors funded their first minibus, and we now fully support their operations in Kharkiv. Donations are typically processed through MedAid, though direct giving to STEP-IN (registered in Slovakia) is also possible.

    Medical Supplies

Our medical equipment delivery programme is led by MedAid trustee Gavin Rankin and his colleague Kateryna Karpenko. Based in London, Kat liaises directly with hospitals in Eastern Ukraine, especially Kharkiv, to ensure critical medical supplies reach frontline medical teams.

This programme has delivered over €400,000 worth of high-value life-saving aid, including tourniquets, trauma dressings, and field hospital equipment – supporting doctors working just behind the front lines.
