November Event – Join us for an evening exploring responses to PTSD & trauma in Ukraine
As the war in Ukraine grinds on month by month, the country faces an inexorable mental health crisis. Members of the armed forces and veterans of the conflict struggle with PTSD and related conditions. The broader population is suffering too – from the effects of the continued bombardment, the loss of their loved ones or fear for their safety, family separation and displacement, as well as anxiety and depression caused by the impact of living in a country at war.
On Thursday 13th November at 7 pm Medaid International is hosting an evening at The Frontline Club which will explore what we can do to help, with a particular focus on scalable responses to PTSD and other mental health trauma. Ukrainians need our mental health support both during the current conflict and for the long rebuilding process which will follow.
We have assembled a highly qualified group of panellists, including Professor Walter Busuttil, former Medical Director and Director of Research at Combat Stress, and Father Vitaliy Novak, the former head of De Paul in Ukraine who is currently serving in the Ukrainian military and has particular experience of the mental health challenges facing soldiers and veterans. We will also talk about the innovative psychosocial support courses offered by Moe Kolo, which was co-founded by Medaid International in Lviv in 2023.
We would be so pleased if you would join us and others who feel passionately about Ukraine. The panel discussion will begin at 7pm and there will be drinks and light food afterwards hosted by Medaid International. Tickets are available via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.
